Pink: The color of sensitivity. The passion of red combined with the purity of white. Associated with love, femininity, nurturing and tenderness. Conveying a sense of safety and vulnerability.
I used to despise anything pink. I had a bit of a Tom boy phase (Umbro shorts and Sambas everyday holla), would rather cut Barbies hair off and let my brothers strap her to fireworks (that happened) than push her around in a hot pink convertible, played 3 sports in high school, started auto racing shortly after (a completely male dominated sport), and began my career in tech (another male dominated arena). I saw pink as weak and girly. I wanted to be associated with strength and power so naturally my favorite color was red, followed by white and black everything.
When I started Life by Design I was at a complete crossroads in my life. The powerful, take no shit, warrior like persona was no longer serving me (though I am, and will always be, working everyday to shed the layers of that armor). And I was learning the importance of softening. The importance of embracing my femininity. So I choose a soft, light pink - a combination of the power of red and the purity of white - as a statement to the universe (or whatever you want to call it) that I'm evolving to embrace all that comes with this side.
After all, soft and fierce can coexist and still be powerful.
Life by Design was born out of a need for my own self-healing after decades of unresolved illness. It wasn’t until finding the courage to look within that I discovered it was my own belief system holding me back from experiencing a truly thriving life. We all have access to that thriving life. We just need to rediscover our power and ignite the healing-self. Only then can we unapologetically live a life by our own design.
