Simple Sunday things.
I love impromptu photos like this one. I woke up late this morning, turned on my diffuser, turned up the @champagnepapi on my @sonos, and thought to myself ‘This little nightstand represents so much of who I am.’ I kind of unknowingly created a little self care sanctuary in my tiny studio apt.
Self care has been such a huge topic lately, esp on Sundays, but like all things in wellness (and in life) you gotta define what that means to you. For me it’s chill beats and/or beats with an abundance of bass, the smell of essential oils, the convenience of my AirPods for catching up with my East Coast family and friends as I move around the apt, and the little gold jewelry collection I wear everyday - a combination of pieces from my grandmother, my mom, a ring I bought myself on my first trip to Italy, a gold choker from a boutique near my old apt in Brooklyn, and a Grecian bracelet from my dad.
Self care doesn’t have to be a long checklist or a notification on your phone. It can be the simple things on your nightstand that are there each day to remind you who you are and what makes you feel your best.
Life by Design was born out of a need for my own self-healing after decades of unresolved illness. It wasn’t until finding the courage to look within that I discovered it was my own belief system holding me back from experiencing a truly thriving life. We all have access to that thriving life. We just need to rediscover our power and ignite the healing-self. Only then can we unapologetically live a life by our own design.
