"The best forms of healing, therapy, and meditation are all about learning to trust." - Jack Kornfield Trust hasn't always come easily to me. I've consistently remained open and curious to new therapies, ideas, and people but curiosity is not the same as trust. Curiosity is the seed and trust is the blossoming. It's where the real healing takes place, if you allow it. Allowing trust to blossom means allowing relationships to blossom. I spent a lot of time fighting that growth for more reasons than I can name. Everything from 'I can handle it myself' (big one), to 'nobody will get it', to convincing myself that needing any form of compassion was weak and self-loathing. I could show compassion, sure, I just couldn't accept it. As a result, I avoided seeing a therapist for most of my life, avoided sharing my deepest struggles with others, and subsequently avoided being truly honest with myself. Because how can you trust yourself if you can't trust others? But I think the only way to really learn to trust yourself is to find the courage to allow relationships to blossom. Relationships, in all forms, will always be our greatest healers. Always. I don't care how many crystals you rub or how much kale you eat, standing yourself up in front of another person - be it a therapist, doctor, alternative healer, friend, family member, or partner - and really trusting them to hold a safe space for your healing will teach you more about yourself than you ever thought imaginable. With that knowing, comes true healing. And with that healing, comes deeper relationships, deeper connection to yourself, and deeper meaning in life. It's true blossoming.

Life by Design was born out of a need for my own self-healing after decades of unresolved illness. It wasn’t until finding the courage to look within that I discovered it was my own belief system holding me back from experiencing a truly thriving life. We all have access to that thriving life. We just need to rediscover our power and ignite the healing-self. Only then can we unapologetically live a life by our own design.
